Stone: Retaining Wall Stone
Home Page->Stone Products->Wall Stone->Retaining Wall Stone
Retaining wall stone need to have at least one good face for each particular stone.  The rest of the stone will be buried in some way, shape or form.  The stone also needs to have an appropriate size for the load that it is retaining.

Retaining wall stone usually serve an an important purpose.  The stone is not simply decorative but, it is also holding back some amount of land.  Because of this the stone must meet the needs of the specific application.  All retaining walls are not created equal and are not holding back the same type of ground.  The ground can consist of sand, soil, gravel, or clay.  The consistency of the ground that the wall is trying to retain will determine how best to tackle the project.

Retaining walls can be cemented together, dry stacked (mortar-less), or a combination, where it is a mortar-less appearance but cement/mortar is used in back of the stone to hold the wall together.  All three methods can achieve the same goals however the look will vary depending on which method is used and what type of stone is used.

At the M. O'Mahoney Company, ledge stone, fieldstone, granite are all examples of retaining wall stones that people might use for their projects.  Below are some examples of retaining wall stones that we carry.  If you don't see a style or color that you are interested in, please stop by our showroom to view a more extensive selection of our products.
