Step treads or stair treads are typically 1.5" to 2.5" thick. Custom thicknesses do exist, however the overall step height is usually 6" to 8" high. The thicker the tread the stronger the product. If it is too thin there may be the possibility of cracking or splitting.
The variety that exists with step treads today is fantastic. With not only color and size to select for your stair treads, one can also select finish and texture. Some of the finish and texture options include rockface, thermal, splitface, and natural cleft, saw-cut, bull-nosed. The options are not limited to US products either. We bring in products from China, India, Italy, Turkey, and Canada.
These options allow the homeowner to choose the right look for their project and allow the contractor/builder to offer more to their clients.
Here at the M. O'Mahoney Co. we offer a large selection of step treads. Not only do we offer variety of style, but we also have a large selection of sizes for each style. For example, our bluestone and limestone step treads range from standard 12"W x 48"L x 2"D through 24"W x 96"L x 2"D. Custom size widths, lengths and thicknesses are also possible.
Through our stone cutting facility, we also have the ability to cut many of the step treads we distribute. Custom shapes and sizes are often possible with templates or drawings. We also are able to provide custom finishes to step treads based on client preference.
Below you will see a selection of some of the step treads we distribute. If you do not find what you are looking for or would like to take a closer look at these products, please feel free to visit us at our showroom. Our sales staff will be happy to assist you.
