It is an important distinction in stone to classify 'freestanding' wall stone and 'retaining' wall stone vs. other types of stone. The reason being is that the use of the stone will determine whether or not certain stones will be appropriate for the application.
Retaining Wall Stone need to have at least one good face for each particular stone. The rest of the stone will be buried in some way, shape or form. The stone also needs to have an appropriate size for the load that it is retaining.
